Nelson Reyes, Jr., a neighbor and North Miami Beach police officer was recently promoted to sergeant. He deserves our congratulations for this well deserved promotion. We can write him at NelsonReyesJr@aol.com. Nelson has regularly, on duty and off, protected our community.
In December, 2009 Sergeant Reyes saw what appeared to be youths hanging around a neighbor’s home and looking in the windows and over the gate. He discovered stolen properly and false identification in their possession. The individuals were questioned and later confessed to 27 burglaries.
Several months ago, Nelson heard a loud sound from his home. He got in his car and drove around to investigate the situation. Nelson noticed a youth running and stopped him for questioning. Other youths were in pursuit and reported that the suspect was breaking into cars. Nelson arrested the suspect and he was convicted yesterday.
Nelson has a long history of caring about our community and it shows.
